What are the most common website mistakes?

When someone is interested in a website or digital marketing services, we review their online presence. We’ve seen it all.

Common mistakes include:

  • Launching a website and not redirecting old URL’s to new URL
  • SEO Fundamentals are non-existent. No meta information entered, no sitemap, broken links, etc.
  • Theme/Draft pages are published
  • There is a lot of similar/duplicate content, creating competition internally
  • Business listings are not created, claimed, or updated
  • Social Media profiles are not created, claimed, or updated
  • Websites have formatting and usability issues on mobile
  • Websites lack helpful content, only have basic pages (About, Services, Contact, Home)
  • Noindex/disallowing crawlers for development isn’t updated at launch, so the website can’t be indexed and loses rankings
  • Forms are too long and harm conversion rate
  • Copyright year is outdated
  • There are too many options in the main navigation, or too many fields on forms, creating more friction in the conversion process
